Dear Council Sisters and Spiritual Advisors:

Welcome!

Another fantastic training event is in the planning stages for 2012's Leadership Symposium at Lake Yale.  Be sure to mark your calendars and send in your registration form for this not-to-be-missed opportunity.  Our theme this year is "Building on the ABC's of Council...because the learning never ends."

Eastern Deanery will be the hosts for our 44th Annual Convention in April, 2012, and we are as enthused as they are to hear about the exciting plans they have in store for us.  Our convention theme will be “Let Us Break Bread Together…With Love For All God’s Children.”

Bishop John Noonan extends his love and support to all Council members as we begin a new year filled with goals and plans for our various ministries and outreach.  He has pledged his support to help build and extend council membership into other non-affiliated parishes and we will work together to accomplish many fulfilling works of hope, love and peace for those who are in need in our diocese.

We continued the support of our seminarians with fundraisers, “Chez Miguel,” a Carnival Western Caribbean Dream Cruise, which were both very successful, and the ongoing ODCCW Burse Club.  Our seminarians and recently ordained priests will be invited to participate with us in upcoming events and we will be offering them our assistance as the year progresses.

Catholic Charities, CRS, Advocacy and Justice Office, Mission Office and Office of Vocations are but a few of the partnerships with which ODCCW continues with a commitment this year.  Catholic Days at the Capitol will be another event on our calendars and we hope to have an even larger contingent attending this year.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to Bishop Noonan, ODCCW Spiritual Advisor, Father Miguel Gonzalez, and all spiritual advisors and pastors who continue to bless us with their spiritual guidance and inspire us with their words of wisdom as we work in our ministries and outreach.

May God bless all in our Council family who give of themselves to serve God, our councils and parishes, and those in need.  We wish all of our members God’s speed and our deepest appreciation as we go forward doing His work.   We can “BE the Difference” in the lives of others – remember, “Be the Change you Want to See, for Change begins with You and Me.”

Your Sister in Christ,

Gwen Allen

ODCCW President

ABOUT US

The Orlando Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (ODCCW) represents the Catholic women in the Diocese of Orlando through parish affiliations or groups.  We have 33 affiliations at the present time in the five deaneries:  Central DeaneryEastern Deanery, Northern Deanery, Southern Deanery, and Western Deanery.  Each deanery elects three representatives to serve on the ODCCW Board.

The Orlando Council is affiliated with the National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW) and strives to “support, educate, and empower” the women in our diocese “in spirituality, leadership, and service,” as stated in the NCCW Mission Statement.

The President of the ODCCW represents the women in the diocese at the State (or Province) level by attending meetings of the Florida Council of Catholic Women (FCCW), also known as the Province of Miami.  The FCCW President, in turn, represents the women in the state of Florida by serving on the Board of the National Council of Catholic Women.

Our organization is a service organization and we are structured around three (3) commissions:  Sprirituality, Leadershipand Service.  The work of the Council is done through these commissions.
